StartMyOwn ("we," "us") provides business tools for independent professionals across the startmyown family of websites (startmyown.online, startmyown.salon, startmyown.catering, and related domains) — websites, phone and messaging services, AI-assisted customer communication, scheduling, payments, and marketing tools (together, the "Services"). This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.
Account and business information. When a business owner signs up we collect their name, email address, mobile phone number, password, and details about their business (name, services, prices, hours, location, and the content they provide for their website).
Customer information. When customers interact with a business that uses our Services — by text, phone call, website chat, form, booking, or purchase — we process the information they provide: phone number, name, messages, appointment and order details, and, where they choose to share it, a birthday for birthday offers.
Payment information. Payments are processed by Stripe. Card numbers are collected and stored by Stripe, not by us; we receive limited transaction records (amounts, status, last four digits).
Communications. Because the Services answer texts, calls, and chats on behalf of businesses, we process the content of those conversations to provide the service (for example, to book an appointment the customer asked for).
Usage information. Standard technical logs (IP address, device/browser type, pages viewed) used for security and to operate the Services.
We use information to provide and improve the Services: building and hosting business websites, answering and routing communications (including with AI assistance), scheduling, processing payments, sending service messages (confirmations, reminders, receipts), and — with the required consents — marketing messages such as promotions, loyalty updates, review requests, and win-back offers on behalf of the business you interacted with. We do not sell personal information.
By providing your mobile number to a business using StartMyOwn, you consent to receive text messages related to your interactions (confirmations, reminders, payment links) and, where disclosed, occasional marketing messages from that business. Message and data rates may apply. Message frequency varies. Reply STOP at any time to opt out of messages from a business; reply START to opt back in. Reply HELP or contact us at the address below for assistance.
Conversations handled by our assistants may be processed by AI service providers (such as OpenAI, Anthropic, and Google) solely to generate responses and operate the Services. These providers process the data on our behalf and are not permitted to use it to train their generally available models under our agreements with them.
Where a business connects its Google account to manage its Google Business Profile through our Services, our use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. We access only the business-profile data needed to set up and maintain the business's listing and reviews, and we do not use that data for advertising.
We share information with providers who help us operate the Services: Stripe (payments), Twilio (phone and messaging), Amazon Web Services (hosting and email), and the AI providers listed above. Each processes data only to provide their service to us.
We keep information for as long as needed to provide the Services and meet legal obligations (for example, transaction records). Business owners may request deletion of their account, and customers may request deletion of their personal information, by emailing privacy@startmyown.online. We will respond within 30 days.
The Services are not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
We will post any changes to this policy on this page and update the effective date above. Material changes will be communicated to account holders.
